When we opened in 1972 we were called The Red House Bookshop.  A couple of days before his new book “Matilda” was about to be published, Roald Dahl rang and told us that at the end of his new story, the heroine was going to live happily ever after in a house he had called “The Red House” in our honour, as he felt that our shop was the true home for all those who loved reading!
